I hope y’all enjoyed your holiday season and I wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2017. As that noted anonymous philosopher once said, "It’s later than you think.” When you receive this note only 500 days remain until our 45th Reunion. It’s become such a hot ticket that 4 former roommates have already reserved their spots- Lenny DuPree, Walt Baker, Art Poole and Mike Smith. More about Reunions a little later. Now for a few quick announcements:
1. Alumni Day
This year Alumni Day will take place on Saturday, February 25 Eric Schmidt ’76, Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc. will be the recipient of the Woodrow Wilson Award while Pedro Pablo Kucynski *61, the President of Peru, will receive the James Madison Medal. The Alumni Luncheon will take place in Jadwin at noon and we will have a Class table. The Service of Remembrance will be in the Chapel at 3 pm to honor classmates who have passed during the preceding year.
2. 44th and 45th Reunions
Our 44th REUNION! June 1-4 2017. It’s that time again! Nearly 44 years have passed since we graduated (yikes!). Princeton has changed dramatically during those years, but, all in all, it is very much the same great place that we remember and cherish. We hope that you will take the opportunity to return for our 44th and to reconnect with Classmates, roommates, teammates and the University itself. Our customary "Dick DeVeaux Free Lunch” is on Saturday June 3rd in the courtyard between the Chapel and McCosh 10. Lunch will start at 11:30 am, which will give us plenty of time to talk about our great 45th Reunion in 2018 and to line up for the P-rade by 2:00 pm. By popular acclaim, cupcakes will be served again this year. In order for us to order the appropriate amount of food, please let us know if you will be attending the luncheon by e-mailing our Reunions Co-Chair, John "Mick” McMorrow, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Sign up for the luncheon and call a Classmate to march with you in the P-rade!
Our 45th reunion will be May 31 - June 3, 2018--go ahead, put it on your calendar now! Your 45th Reunion co-chairs, Mick, Nancy and Vinny, have assembled a crack team of volunteers who are already busy planning a super weekend for our Class. In fact, we have signed Liquid Pleasure to perform Friday night. But there is still plenty of work to be done; for example, we need a head of "Transportation” -- and who wouldn’t want to command a fleet of golf carts? We could also use some help with planning the Yearbook. If you are interested in joining the 45th Reunion team to make a contribution (big or small), please let one of us know at: email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org; email@example.com. We will be "Still Rockin’ ‘n Roarin’” in 2018--plan to join us!
3. Free Stuff
I knew that would get everyone’s attention. I still have a few blazers left over from our 25th in my closet. My wife has given me an ultimatum- either get rid of them or get a divorce. I decided that giving them away would be cheaper. So if anyone wants them I will give them away for the price of postage (i.e., $10). I have blazers in the following colors and sizes: black (women’s sizes 2 and 4) and off white (men’s sizes 36, 37 short and 38 short). Remember, if any woman would like an off white blazer, just let me know. I also have about 50 class books from our 40th. They could be yours for the price of postage (i.e., $5). Reading through the book will get everyone in the spirit of our upcoming Reunions. As a special one-time offer, anyone ordering either a blazer or a book will get a Class of ’73 lapel pin. Hurry, this offer won’t last forever. Quantities are limited! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and send a check for the appropriate amount, payable to me at 7 Squirrel Run, Morris Township, NJ 07960.
4. Class Dues
Don Boucher, our class Treasurer, has informed me that dues keep trickling in. We are ever so slightly in the black for the first time in a long time. Let’s continue the trend. Please make out your check for $50 payable to "Princeton University-Class of 1973” and mail it in the enclosed envelope.
5. Annual Giving
We are halfway through the Annual Giving Campaign. Please be part of the campaign by going to the University’s secure website, http://www.princeton.edu/ag or by calling 800-258-5421.
6. Class News
Our Class Secretary, Lisa Tebbe, is constantly on the lookout for news about classmates. Please e-mail her at email@example.com. Don’t miss another great opportunity to come back to Princeton and get together with Classmates! I hope to see you at our Class Alumni Day luncheon on Saturday, February 25 and at Reunions.
